The webmaster will be the responsible for maintaining the organisation’s websites, by ensuring their proper functioning and creating new content for the website and blogs. She/he will also work on marketing promotions and social media. -

The Sendai declaration was adopted in the frame of the third UN World Conference on Disaster Risk Reduction in Sendai (Japan), from 13 to 18 March. European municipalities and regions were represented by the Mayor of Soest (The Netherlands) and member of our Dutch association (VNG). -

UCLG Africa invites experts to register on database for consultancy services
The Pan African organisation of local government, United Cities and Local Governments of Africa (UCLG Africa), is calling on experts in various disciplines to register in order to fulfil the following purposes:
- to create a reference database of African experts in the field of local governance for the UCLG Africa;
- to enable the UCLG Africa, when necessary and appropriate, to make direct Calls to Tender for certain works to relevant experts;
- to enable the UCLG Africa, when requested by local governments, their national associations; and development partners to provide information on available experts to support their initiatives / projects as they may demand.

Urban innovation - 29.10.2014
Four European cities shortlisted for the Guangzhou International Award
The Guangzhou International Award for Urban Innovation aims to motivate cities and local authorities to further promote innovation and to improve city governance. The list of European cities shortlisted includes Bristol (United Kingdom), Hamburg (Germany), Linköping (Sweden) and Eskisehir (Turkey).
The awards ceremony will take place on 28 November in Guangzhou (China). -
Habitat III - 19.09.2014
Read the recommendations we addressed to the UN for a sustainable urbanisation
Rural-urban connections, local culture or municipal cooperation at the international level are some of the key areas we recommend the UN to address in view to the future Conference on Housing and Sustainable Urban Development (Habitat III) to take place in 2016. The conference aims to reinvigorate the global commitment to sustainable urbanisation, with a special focus on the implementation of a “New Urban Agenda” at the international level.
This document was presented in New York last 17 September, by local and regional government organisations worldwide (including our global organisation UCLG and its regional sections) gathered in the Global taskforce.

Find out innovative finance resources with the new publication of the Global Fund for cities development
“Local innovations to finance cities and regions” compiles 9 case studies with strategies and financial instruments available for local and regional governments to foster their territories’ autonomy and resilience.
This publication was launched during the conference on “New funding models for local governments: how to effectively mobilise resources?”, co-organised by CEMR and several partners such as the Global fund for cities development (FMDV).

Regional Government Summit - 13.08.2014
Take part to the World Regional Governments Summit
The VI World Regional Governments Summit will be held from 1 to 3 September in Cartagena de Indias (Colombia). It will gather members from local government worldwide to discuss regions’ role within the Post-2015 development agenda, challenges in decentralisation and integral regional development.
Registrations to the summit are now open.

For the first time, CEMR President and Mayor of Almere, Annemarie Jorritsma, and Mayor of Istanbul and President of UCLG, Kadir Topbas, met since their respective elections and discuss UCLG priorities ahead the Habitat III summit in 2016.
In addition to statutory affairs meetings, European local and regional representatives participated in the BT Global City Leaders Summit, where CEMR Co-President and Mayor of Santander, Iñigo de la Serna, shared good practices in making cities engines of growth and equality.
