UCLG Culture Summit 2017 in Jeju
Our global association, United Cities and Local Governments (UCLG), is hosting its second Culture Summit from 10 to 13 May 2017 in Jeju, Korea. The Jeju Culture Summit, “Commitments and Actions for Culture in Sustainable Cities”, is the place to be for towns, regions and all other stakeholders committed to culture at the local level.
The summit will focus on three key themes: Implementing culture 21 actions, A global culture 2030 goal, and Cultural rights and local alliances for culture. It will be an opportunity to discuss all aspects of cultural policies, programmes and projects in cities. -

European city receives special mention for “International Award UCLG – Mexico City – Culture 21”
A European city has received a special mention for the “International Award UCLG – Mexico City – Culture 21” this year:
Kaunas (Lithuania), for its project that mobilised citizens to transform a polluted and uncared place through artistic co-creation activities.
This international award is given to leading cities and people that have made a significant contribution to culture as a dimension of sustainable development.

Join UCLG in Turin to discuss local economic development
Our global organisation (UCLG) invites you to participate in the 3rd World forum on local economic development to be held in Turin, from 13 to 16 October 2015. The forum will gather local government to discuss how local economic development can contribute to implement the post-2015 UN development programme, for instance, by stimulating employment or by improving the quality of life through better local economic governance.

Summary of decisions and debates at the meeting of UCLG's Executive Bureau
Around 200 representatives of local government from 35 countries worldwide gathered in Porto Alegre (Brasil) from 10 to 12 June at the occasion of the UCLG Executive Bureau meeting.
The meeting aimed to discuss the organisation’s strategies to contribute to the international agendas that are currently being negotiated, including, the post-2015 development agenda, COP21 and a global urban agenda of Habitat III.
