Stand up for towns and regions’ future: join us on 11 October at #EURegionsWeek Did you know that thanks to cohesion policy, an estimated 1 million new jobs were created in the EU between 2007 and 2014? Also, almost 33,500 km of roads were built or reconstructed in the EU’s towns and regions, as well as 5,100 km of railways; allowing Europeans to travel, go to work and visit their families.
And yet, due to increasing financial pressure, cohesion policy is in real danger of being weakened in the next EU budget in 2020. That’s why we, CEMR, with other local and regional government associations and the European Committee of the Regions, formed an alliance to defend it: the #CohesionAlliance.
