Summer Institute on urban management - September 2008
The International Urban Development Association (INTA) is organising, in partnership with the Council of European Municipalities and Regions (CEMR), a summer institute. on innovative urban management practices, from 15.to 21 September, in Sorrento (Italy).
 
Improved urban development is one of the most important factors in reaching the potential of cities, not only in addressing the challenge of urban poverty, but also in harnessing the economic opportunities and in improving the citizens' quality of life. This training programme will provide a platform of expertise and knowledge related to emerging urban themes and processes.
 
The Institute will address:

Ӣ Designing models (model cities)
Ӣ Space syntax
Ӣ Policy Networks
Ӣ Policy Communities and the urban Governance
Ӣ Planning support systems
Ӣ Geospatial simulation
Ӣ Carrying capacity assessment
Ӣ City communication as a public service

INTA Summer Institute on Urban Development is for city managers, planners, urban professionals, decision makers but also to urban studies students (Master and PhD levels).

Background information
 
INTA is an international network of urban policy makers and professionals actively involved in urban transformation and regeneration. INTA focuses on integrated urban development with world wide recognition of its membership and partners in over 60 countries. INTA is a not for progit NGO that regroups 5 categories of membership: national governments or agencies, local and regional authorities, public and private corporations, academic institutions and individuals.

Registration: until 25 July
Fee: € 2900 for INTA members ; €3200 for non-members
The fee includes the training for 6 full days in English, the didactical material, the accommodation, breakfast and lunch for the duration of the course.
