Conference on local governments in development cooperation
The Council of European Municipalities and Regions together with the European Office of the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung Brussels is organising a conference on 'Local Governments in Development Cooperation", which will take place on 8 and 9 June in Brussels.
 
The aim of the conference is to promote discussion and the development of strategies in order to strengthen the capacities of local authorities and local to local partnership. The key objective of the conference is twofold:
  • to learn from the presentations of case studies about the added value of local to local government cooperation in achieving major development objectives;
  • to discuss broadly the current specific instruments and perspectives of the European Union (thematic fields and eligibility criteria) on Non-State Actors and Local Authorities in development policy.
Will also participate to the conference representatives from the European Commission, as well as members of the European Parliament and of the Council.
