Innovation in urban transport: NICHES workshop (1/2 December 2005, Stockholm)
The Council of European Municipalities and Regions (CEMR) and POLIS are organising a NICHES (New and Innovative Concepts for Helping European transport Sustainability) seminar in Stockholm, on 1 and 2 December 2005.
 
The main aim of the seminar is to present the intermediate findings of the project's 'transferability" study and to have these results validated by the workshop participants. Speakers will include Stockholm's deputy mayor and various European transport experts.
 
On 1 december, representatives from the City of Stockholm will present various case studies on innovative urban transport.
 
On 2 december, various interactive parallel sessions will be held on the themes of the 4 NICHES working groups:

. New Seamless Mobility Services
. Innovative Approaches in City Logistics
. New Non-Polluting and Energy-Efficient Vehicles
. Innovative Demand Management Strategies

NICHES is a EU funded project. It aims at stimulating a wide debate on innovative urban transport and mobility, and to promote the most promising new concepts, initiatives and projects. It was launched in November 2004 for a two year period, after which the final results and materials will be presented and discussed in a final validation workshop (autumn 2006).
