Sustainable Building 04 International Conference (9-11 June 2005 - Athens)

The sustainable Building 04 Event for the Mediterranean region (SB04MED), will be held in Athens on the 9th - 11th June 2005. It will focus on "sustainable construction: action for sustainability in the Mediterranean region".

The SB04MED Conference aims to promote sustainable building through three parallel actions:
- academic paper presentation
- sustainable design of educational buildings presentation
- presentation of innovative techniques, technologies, construction methods and materials.

This event will be a full part of the SB04 regional event series and as such treated in the preparation for the Global Sustainable Building 2005 Conference to be held in September 2005 in Tokyo.

The culmination of this Mediterranean Event will be the Sustainable Building and Construction Mediterranean Report. This report will provide an overview of and solutions for regional situation regarding the concept and implementation of sustainable building.

The conference is initiated and co-ordinated by the SD-MED Association and is supported by the European LIFE-Environment Programme. It's held under the auspices of the Mayor of Athens and the Central Union of Municipalities and Communities of Greece.

Workshops and projects presentations of sustainable educational buildings will be organised during the conference. The best projects selected by an international scientific committee will be awarded in the end of the event. The conference will also include a conventional part with exhibitors from building enterprises specialising in eco-construction materials and systems.
