​Cohesion policy - 04.08.2015

The Commission is setting up an expert group to simplify the access to European funding
The Commission is looking for experts to provide advice on how to reduce bureaucracy and red tape to access European Structural and Investment Funds. Among other objectives, the group will aim to improve the way Member States and local government will manage the Cohesion Policy funds (€352 billion) within the next 7 years.   

About the high level group​ 

The group shall consist of a maximum of twelve members appointed in a personal capacity for a three year term which may be renewable. They will meet at least twice a year to give the Commission an opinion free from outside influence and shall respect the conditions of confidentiality. 

Their tasks will include:
 
  • Assessing Member states commitment to reduce administrative burden to beneficiaries of the funds, 
  • Identifying good practices in matters concerning the reduction of administrative burden 
  • Making recommendations to adopt simplification measures forthe next cohesion programming period (2014-2020) 

About the candidates

Among other criteria, candidates must have a proven competence and experience at high level (EU institutions, national, regional and/or local level) in areas relevant to the tasks of the group.
