Local autonomy - 26.03.2014

Local autonomy in Europe under the spotlight of a symposium in Vilnius (9-10 May)
The symposium, to take place on 9 and 10 May, will be structured around 7 workshops, one of which is organised by CEMR on “Decentralisation at a crossroads - Territorial reforms in Europe in times of crisis: snapshot of recent developments”.

Questions to be addressed during the two-day event include the following: What kind of local administration system in 21st century Europe? What is the impact of territorial reforms on the shape of European States? What relations exist between States and local authorities regarding competence distribution?

The symposium is co-organised by Observatory on local autonomy (OLA), a network of researchers, state officials and territorial officials, specialised in local autonomy issues and local authorities' management.

For any further information on this meeting, please contact CEMR's research and studies officer, Nathalie Noupadja.
