Who? Cities, local or regional governments around the world are invited to participate.
When? The application period will remain open until 31 March 2014.
What is the price? The winning program will receive 50 000 euros for the international promotion of the project and to strengthen the local implementation of Agenda 21 for culture. In addition, the winning project will receive a trophy made by a Mexican artist, as well as the recognition of UCLG President and Head of Government of Mexico City.
How to participate? Please fill out the online form on the website of the Agenda 21 for culture. The form is available in English, French and Spanish.
* Agenda 21 for culture is the first international document that recognises and promotes culture as an engine for sustainable development within cities. It was initiated by the Committee on Culture of UCLG. Today, more than 500 cities and organisations (including mayors and local governments) support this initiative.

“International Award UCLG - Mexico City - Culture 21”: take your chance to win 50 000 euros with projects linking culture and sustainable development!
Promoted by our international organisation, UCLG, and Mexico City, this award recognises policies, programs and projects promoting culture as a pillar for sustainable development. Moreover, this award aims at rewarding those that explicitly incorporate the principles of the Agenda 21 for culture*, by linking the values of culture (heritage, diversity and transmission of knowledge) with democratic governance, citizen participation and sustainable development.
Through this award, UCLG and Mexico City want to:

- Motivate cities to adopt the principles of the Agenda 21 for culture ;
- Strengthen the presence of this issue within UCLG of this theme.
