CEMR's network for North/South local government cooperation held its second meeting in Brussels on 2 and 3 February.

 

Participants discussed several issues including how to reinforce the role of local authorities in EU's Nort/South cooperation policy, as well as Euro-Mediterranean cooperation including the Middle East.

 

They also agreed to call for the EU to establish a specific budget line dedicated to local authorities in the field of North/South cooperation.

 

They reiterated the interest of local government in North/South cooperation, amongst others via exchange of experiences from country to country.

 

The main aim of the network is to seek a more coherent, global and uniform EU policy for development cooperation at local level.
