Local and regional sustainable development (23/24.06.05 - Brussels)
The association of the municipality and communes of Brussels-capital will hold a conference on the exchanges between municipalities and regions of Europe: the driving force behind sustainable development, on 23 and 24 June 2005 in Brussels.
The conference will address issues such as the promotion of local employment, good practice in environment and health, municipalities and regions as agents of social and cultural integration, equal opportunities...
Speakers will include:
Charles Picqué, Minister-president of the Bruxelles-Capitale region
Guy Vanhengel, Finance and budget minister for Bruxelles-Capitale
Jeremy Smith, CEMR Secretary general
Franco Punzi, vice President of the Italian section of CEMR
Mathias Schulze-Böing, Chair of CEMR working group on Employment and social affairs
Vicenta Bosch Palanca, Chair of CEMR's Committee of Women elected representatives of local and regional authorities
Els Van Weert, Belgian Minister for Sustainable development,
as well as local representatives from various European countries.
