CEMR President expresses her condolences following the tragic killings at the headquarters of the French magazine
CEMR President, Annemarie Jorritsma, addressed a letter to Alain Juppé, the president of our French association (AFCCRE), Anne Hidalgo, Mayor of Paris and french mayors, to denounce the attack on the French magazine ‘Charlie Hebdo’. On behalf of CEMR, she expressed her condolences to the people of France:
“We were dismayed and sad to learn of the terrible news of the attack that shook Paris last Wednesday and that by targeting a newspaper, hit a fundamental pillar of our democracies, that of freedom of expression. Nothing can justify the use of weapons and violence to oppose an idea or an opinion.
CEMR defends a free and democratic Europe. Today we are in mourning and we wish our French friends courage and strength in this difficult time.”
