UN climate summit - 08.12.2009
An environmentally friendly entry portal for COP 15 delegates
A low-energy roof top house has been built at the entrance of the Bella Center, the conference premises hosting the COP15 UN Climate Change Conference.
The intention is to give all the 20,000 conference delegates a first-hand.impression of how sustainable architecture and components can play an important role in tackling the challenge of climate change.
The 'VELUX House" has a room heating demand according to the passive house standard and it uses solar heating and PV elements, is very attractive and available at reasonable cost so it can be devoted to social housing.
The roof offers large areas for solar panels and is therefore a source of energy. Everything in the house has been built to catch the rays of the sun and maximise natural daylight flowing into the rooms from the roof windows and the front facade of full-height windows.
The CONCERTO initiative is partner of the project. It is co-funded by the European Commission.
