Cohesion policy

Exclusive interview: Commissioner Creţu's take on the future of Cohesion policy

The Cohesion policy is the only European policy with a direct link with towns and regions and, therefore, with its citizens.

But what will happen to cohesion policy at the next EU budget review in 2020? What shape it should take to respond to current challenges, like climate change or migration flows?

Now that discussions around its future have been launched, we have interviewed the European Commissioner for Regional Policy, Corina Creţu, and dicussed potential new aspects in the new programming period, how the cohesion policy could respond to global challenges and how to involve local and regional governments in the current negotiations.

Petros Fassoulas: "By collaborating with local governments, we can reach millions of citizens across Europe"

The loss of trust in the European Union or a lower turnout at European elections are some of the challenges that the EU is facing today. To contribute to a strong and united Europe, CEMR joined "ALL", a new alliance that is to campaign in favour of European cooperation and democracy in the run-up to the European Parliament elections in 2019. 

In order to understand what is at stake for European democracy and to learn more about this alliance, we interviewed ALL’s founder and secretary general of the European Movement International (EMI), Petros Fassoulas.
