Sustainable territorial and local development

The European Commission has published a proposal for a regulation on support for rural development by the European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development, on 14 July 2004.

 

The Lisbon Council (pledge to make the EU the most competitive economy in the world - March 2000) and the Göteborg Council (Emphasis on protecting the environment - June 2001) have had a major impact on the reform of the Common Agricultural Policy of which rural development is an integral part.
