Frédéric Vallier will be the next secretary general of CEMR
Frédéric Vallier was elected secretary general of the Council of European Municipalities and Regions (CEMR), on 30 November 2009. He should take office in February 2010.
 
At its meeting in Berlin, on 30 November and 1 December 2009, CEMR's Policy Committee voted in favour of Frédéric Vallier. He will succeed outgoing secretary general Jeremy Smith who has held this position since May 2002.
 
Frédéric Vallier is a 45 year old French national. He became head of the European Service of Nantes Metropole and City in 2008 after having worked for Nantes international relations for 3 years. He has been actively involved in local authorities issues since 1988.
