Equality of women and men in local life

The European Commission has published its 2004 report on equality between women and men.
 

It states that continuing inequalities between men and women could hamper the fulfilling of the Lisbon objectives. It adds that, although there has been some progress in narrowing inequalities, such progress is still too slow especially in the labour market.
 

Heads of states and governments of the EU will study the conclusions of the report at the Spring Council on 25 and 26 March.
