EU Cities Forum: working towards a sustainable urban future
“To steer European territories in the direction of sustainable development, a strong cohesion policy is necessary beyond 2020.” The mayor of Udine, Furio Honsell, represented CEMR and defended a sustainable urban future during a panel discussion of the urban dimension of cohesion policy at the EU Cities Forum in Rotterdam, on 28 November 2017.
On the same day, a Covenant of Mayors session took place. It looked into the priorities of the partnerships on Energy Transition and Adaptation, as well as the need to invest in human resources: a trend which is common to both small towns and large cities.
Another major highlight of the EU Cities Forum was the launch of URBIS: a new advisory service to help cities plan investments (an EU service).
