CEMR calls for European elections high turn-out
The Executive Bureau of the Council of European Municipalities and Regions (CEMR) calls for a strong participation at the forthcoming European elections.
At its Dublin meeting, on 31 May 2004, the Executive Bureau has launched an appeal in which it urges European citizens to exercice their right to vote, and national, regional and local government to encourage a high level of participation.
CEMR's Executive Bureau also welcomed the Irish presidency's efforts and called on the European Council to adopt the European Constitution at its forthcoming meeting.
Last month, CEMR issued a manifesto listing European local and regional government's concerns on the eve of the European elections.
