Energy efficiency

The European Commission has announced a call for proposals for initiatives on energy efficiency. Funding is available for international projects, events, and the start-up of local or regional agencies which enhance the capacity of more intelligent use of energy and the wider use of renewables.

 

Supported initiatives
 

Three types of initiatives are supported:

 

Type 1: projects
Presented projects are categorised into 4 areas:

 

Ӣ The efficient use of energy, in particular in buildings and industry (SAVE) deadline for application 31 January 2006
Ӣ the promotion of new and renewable energy sources for electricity, heat, and biofuels (ALTENER)
deadline for application 31 January 2006
Ӣ The energy aspects of transport, fuel diversification, biofuels and energy efficiency (STEER)
deadline for application 31 January 2006
Ӣ The promotion of renewable energy sources and energy efficiency in developing countries (COOPENER)
deadline for application 28 February 2006

 

Type 2: energy agencies

The programme supports the establishment of new regional or local energy agencies. Such agencies should be independent non profit organizations providing energy advisory services for private and public local decision makers as well as for individual citizens.

Type 3: events

Funding is available for international conferences and seminars on intelligent energy use, info days on the 2005 call for proposals and meetings between projects leaders and between projects leaders and the EC.
Deadline for application 28 April 2006

 

This financial support will be available in the framework of the"Intelligent Energy - Europe" programme (IEE). The ManagEnergy website offers a large list of additional events on energy effciency and renewables.
