Gender equality - 19.05.2017
Former MEP and mayor Edite Estrela receives CEMR medal
The equality of women and men should be a core principle in every democratic local government. Former MEP and vice-president of the European Parliament’s committee on women’s rights and gender equality, as well as mayor of Sintra, Edite Estrela has demonstrated a lifelong commitment to equality both at local and European level.
For her hard work in favour of the European Charter for Equality of Women and Men in Local Life, one of CEMR’s proudest achievements, Edite Estrela was awarded the CEMR medal on 18 May. Congratulations!
