  • Executive Bureau - 25.11.2016

    Paris hosts CEMR Executive Bureau
    CEMR’s Executive Bureau met in Paris from 21 to 22 November. Its members prepared the Policy Committee meeting that will take place in Maastricht from 12 to 13 December.

    Two key debates will be taking place in Maastricht: one on gender equality and one on the future of Europe, at the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the Maastricht treaty.

    Welcome to NALAS’ new President
    Mayor of Lukač municipality (Croatia), Đuro Bukvić, has been elected President of the Network of Associations of Local Authorities of South-East Europe (NALAS), during the organisation’s General Assembly in Sarajevo (Bosnia and Herzegovina).
     
    During its election, the new President stated: “Our objectives for the future remain the same: strengthening the democratic institutions, empowering the process of decentralisation”.
     
    Mr. Bukvić is also the President of the Association of municipalities in the Republic of Croatia andex-officio member of CEMR Executive Bureau.
  • Executive Bureau - 07.03.2014

    Youth unemployment, urban development and local finances at the heart of the debate
    CEMR Executive bureau held its annual meeting from 5 to 6 March in Athens. The Bureau members addressed three main points:
     
    • The adoption of the study “Tackling youth unemployment: ‘Let's revive partnership between all Governance levels’”, jointly carried by CEMR and its member associations;
    • The EU Urban agenda and the future of cities in Europe;
    • Discussions around the Local Finance Benchmarking programme – which aims to analyse the impact of the economic crisis on local budgets in Mediterranean countries.

    The meeting was hosted by the Vice-President of our Greek association (KEDE), Ioannis Kourakis, and the Mayor of Athens, Giorgios Kaminis. Besides, members of the Council of Europe and NALAS also attended the event.
